Salix x pendulina f. erythroflexuosa has a columnar habit that cascades with maturity. It has twisted copper red stems (colour intensifies in the autumn and winter), twisted pale green leaves, and yellow catkins in spring. This species grows redder stems and is superior to the poor Scarlet Curls ('Scarzacum') willow selection. Grown as a large shrub or small specimen tree, it will be a year round focal point in the garden. Its twisted bare stems provide exceptional interest in the winter garden. Can also be coppiced to produce great cut stems for flower arranging. Spring catkins are highly attractive to bees. Plant a red curly willow in your garden to start producing your own red curly willow branches and makes wonderful winter bouquets! It is also known as Salix x sepulcralis 'Erythroflexuosa' or Salix x erythroflexuosa.
